Annette and I are looking for someone to look after our Farm Stay in Ashland Ohio for most of the rest of the month of December, including Christmas, for a very, very low fee. We will be out of town for some of this time and would like a trustworthy steward to keep our farm stay cozy and warm before we winterize after our final weekly guest Jan 3. If you are looking for a unique getaway this holiday, here is your big chance.

RE: Viktor Schreckengost's "Farmer's Market"
I saw this wonderful painting by Viktor on Barbara Strauss' blog. The North Union Farmer's market organization has an event coming up in January. Is there anyway they can contact the owner to get permission to use this image in a slide show on what they are working on and toward in terms of supporting the local farmer movement? Thanks, Jim Bartlett

Hello!
I am a student at Oberlin College and I am working with a group to create a documentary about local food justice issues in Oberlin. Does anyone have any suggestions on people that might be interested in the same issues and would want to talk to us? Any other local food information in the area would be great as well!
Thanks!

The Cleveland Greenhouse Project is going to be conducting a composting clinic/demonstration in the near future. We are currently seeking volunteers -- preferably someone with a pickup truck -- who can help us transport some materials (wooden pallets and other building materials) on Tuesday, Nov. 17th at 9 AM. If available, please contact me at 216-926-4806 or Rosemary Woodruff at 216-402-9921.

I just attended a session on extending the growing season in Northeast Ohio. People reported harvesting carrots and brussel sprouts into December. Also planting spinach, kale and other cold hardy crops in the fall and then having them ready to harvest a month earlier in the spring.
Does anyone else have experience with this?

As announced on Monday at the E4S event, the Local Food Break Out Group from the Sustainability Summit has graciously been given a booth at the Fabulous Food Show, November 13-15.
If you have any local food related brochures or information you would like to make available for the event, please let me know so we can make arrangements to get them.

I am amazed how I got into this food movement. But truth be told, access to food has always been an interest of mine. So I guess it is natural that I would be heading up a committee on food and health.
