Hi. How much does the hoop house extend the growing season? What can be grown in there and for how long? Does it withstand snow and wind well (I would imagine it does) and can it stay up all year round. Also, about how much did it cost for the mater…

Hi. I have heard that the Galleria downtown is interested in doing some kind of "gardens under glass" project. If anyone is interested, please let me know and I'll try to get more information.

Our mission is to rebuild a regional bean, grain, and seed staple food system by bringing together farmers and buyers to grow, process and sell high nutrition crops, and work toward zero dependency on chemical inputs in staple food agriculture.

Wendy, I have an idea as to how you, all Cleveland Italians and anybody else who is interested could grow fig trees and lots of other good stuff year round. I think that we should build a solar-powered COMMUNITY GREENHOUSE! There is one in Cheyenne,…

Tell us about yourself:
I grew up in Boston but was born here and have come back to the City to help out my family. I am the organizer of a new organic community garden on the Westside called The Good Earth Community Garden. I am planning to get my MA in Int'l Sustainable Dev't next year.
What gifts can you give to Cleveland's local food community?
I am passionate about real food, clean water and helping to create a peaceful and happy planet for all-plants and animals included. I feel it is every human's birthright and that we must all work to return to the natural harmony that existed before we started messing around with things..
What knowledge and practices do you want to learn?
I am interested in learning more about biodynamic farming, permaculture, and simply meeting others who are intersted in some of the things I am.
What about local food makes you most excited?
It is fresh, it is healthy, it's sensible, it's creative and can be a lot of fun (I love to cook!)

Ya gotta arrange all that stuff, a lot of work but worth it. I did it once and rented screen/projector from hughies, rounded up sponsors etc etc...

I am a little fried right now from it, lets call it a sweet hangover.

Go for it, if you have the energy!

Hi Kim,

We had about 65 all stars in attendance. A great night. You have to go through the web site to register for a license, they are cheap, depending how many people. We got 3 extra dvds and licenses with our purchase of screening for 50. Got my money back (and then some) just with a silent auction for them.
Have a screening and let me know, I would be happy to help promote!!!

Hi Kim. That sounds like a great project and I'd love to learn more about it. I'm ready to shoot anytime, especially in order to document the current condition of the land. (And people.) Should we have a conversation about the scope of your project and how I can best of service? Thanks for your note. This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to find on this network. Cheers.

Kim,
I work at Melt Bar & Grilled in Lakewood. Gordon Square FM has been around since last year. We are small yet mighty. We are also getting good support from the neighborhood.
You can look up julie on this local food cleveland site. Keep me posted as to your needs for the garden. I can probably help you find free stuff or people who can.

I forgot to mention, the Gordon Square Farmers' Market will run July 11 through October 24 this year at the corner of W. 65 and West Clinton.
Your SAC, Social Action Collective, idea sounds like a pandora's box.
It made me think, you should meet Julie Lindstrom. She is an electrician who also does set work for movies. she is here on the west side and helps organize the Ithica Court CG.
Let me know if you need any veggie scraps for composting. I work at a restaurant in Lakewood that puts aside scraps for gardeners and currently we have a need for someone with a need.

there's not technically a program "office" here. i work for the USA Country Program out of my living room. i coordinate trainings for our staff and project partners. i see from your profile that you grew up in bostone--i'm wondering if you are familiar with our overlook farm? i'd love to chat with you in detail about our work in the united states and a little bit more about what i do and what you do!
